Checked in at the Asakusa Central Hotel which is all rather pleasant, quick shower and off out to womble about a bit. Found Kaminarimon and Sensoji temple in about five minutes then mooched about round the shops and eateries. Had a fantastic meal in a restaurant with beer and more Nihonshu before turning in for an earlyish night….

Except we didn't because Tracey forced me, against all my protestations, into a bar that sells an almost infinite array of Sake (not going to keep typing Nihonshu, iPad doesn't like it and we all know what I mean) at 400 yen a cup. So the next bit is Tracey's fault entirely, and not mine for being three sheets to the wind already.

Did they sell nigori sake? It turns out they did! Could we try some? It turns out we could! Could I then end up spending the next hour talking absolute bollocks to a lovely bunch of Japanese people who struck up the conversation. Yes. Oh god yes. Tracey wrote quite a bit on Facebook  about it but suffice it to say I now have an actresses autograph so that's a good nights work eh? Can't remember lots about the conversation but I do remember calling Donald Trump an オレンジ野蛮人 (“orange barbarian”) at one point so two years of Japanese lessons not entirely wasted! And that's a word I learnt from Shōgun so nice tie in to the book that started this so many years ago.

And so to bed.

And so to wake up again at 2am! So much for the plan to reset out time clocks by staying up to normal bedtime eh! Hence this rambling narrative.

Still, we’re in Japan. Only taken 32 years but finally here. Could not be happier right at this second. Unless I could get to sleep that is. I'd say "Tomorrow is another day" but it's actually in 3 hours.
